Autonomous Driving UX Creation Challenge
Event Details
The Mobility DX Platform held the 1st Autonomous Driving UX Creation Challenge on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Hibiya International Building in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.
The "Autonomous Driving UX Creation Challenge" is an ideathon held on the theme of user experience (UX) of autonomous driving as a new initiative aimed at acquiring and developing software talent for the mobility DX platform.
Entries were accepted from December 2024 on the theme of "Ideas for services that can be provided inside self-driving cars and the HMI (the interface between people and the car) that would make them possible," and applications were received from 40 teams and 82 people from all over the country.
The 12 teams that passed the first round of judging went through a brush-up period and then competed in the finals on February 15th. The judges included people active in various fields, such as automotive journalist Yumi Kawabata, CEO Nakao of Mobility Dock Inc., and software engineer Ushijima of Tier IV, Inc. After a rigorous judging process, three teams were awarded the Grand Prize, Excellence Prize, and Encouragement Prize.
The team that won the grand prize was the Iwakuni Programming Club, a three-person team including a high school student, who presented a project on the theme of a tourism experience using Minecraft and an AI rickshaw.
After the award ceremony, a social gathering was held, where not only the presenters but also the judges and METI members had a great time.
